Sure the end of the semester is an exciting time but for some, you can consider this one of the most stressful few weeks. Waiting to hear back about final grades. So here are some stages one might find themselves going through waiting for a few letters to pop up on a screen.

1. Accomplishment.

You've finished your last final exam and summer is calling your name. Another semester in the books and you couldn't be happier about a couple of months of rest and relaxation, (or work and more work). But regardless how you choose to spend your summer your final grades aren't exactly a huge thought in your mind at this point. You'll get them when you get them.

2. Reassurance.

Now that summer is officially set in, the concept is not one that totally consumes you anymore. But you still remain optimistic, I'm sure I did fantastic in all my classes even that one I was struggling with all semester. Definitely A's across the board okay maybe a B or two but not more than that it'll all work out right?

3. Worry.

You've waited what seems like weeks to find out how you finished out in that dreaded anthropology class and you've found yourself trying to tally up your own grade. "I did great on that test," you think but then you remember that homework you didn't quite understand how to do and those mornings it was just too hard to get out of bed. And the worry sets, what's my final grade?!

4. Kicked out.

You've now fully convinced yourself that your grades are so terrible that they've had no choice but to kick you out of school. They won't be posting anything and all that they'll leave you with is a nicely written goodbye letter that you now believe you are forced to wait for to come in the mail. You've found yourself in a state of awe. How did I let it get to this point? What do I tell my friends? What do I tell my parent?

5. Relief.

Your grades are finally posted and to your excitement, you are not being kicked out of college. You realize that each letter corresponds to the work and effort you put into that class and you find yourself able to sleep a little better a night. Your semester has come to an end and you have worked your ass off and those little letters on a computer screen prove it. You finally find some relief and can now really begin to enjoy your summer.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
