Five Stages Of Grief After A Hair Cut

I am sure you have all been there before. You look in the mirror and realize its definitely time for a hair cut. After that realization, you book yourself an appointment knowing you will have to say goodbye to your luscious locks sooner than you'd hoped. You have an attachment to your hair. It may be considered a key part of your identity, and when you get your split ends chopped off it's like a piece of you is missing. Of course, it will grow back, but it will definitely take time. Here are the first few thoughts that run through my mind after telling my hairdresser to cut off "as much as he thinks I need" for it to look healthy.

1. Wow, my hair has never looked better! I mean, look at how good my ends look, and it's so shiny! And soft! I could be in one of those hair commercials.

2. It is definitely shorter than I originally wanted. Imagine what it will look like once I do it myself. I don't even want to think about it, yet. Is it going to look like a bob!?"

3. All of my friends ask me if I recently got my hair cut and they say it looks good, especially healthy. I am still skeptical. I still haven't fully accepted the change.

4. It's all off (after showering for the first time). How could my hairdresser do this to me?! What am I going to do? I don't even need as much shampoo and conditioner as before because I've lost all my hair! I used to feel it so much further down my back! It is gone. Great, now I'm going to have to find all new hairstyles.

5. Everyone keeps telling me it looks good. I can't tell, though, my confidence is off. I guess I'll just have to wait a year or two for it to grow back. It'll work in the mean time.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
