Whether you are going through it this week or went through it in the beginning of the summer, us college freshman have all experienced these thoughts during orientation.
1. Denial
College has always been that path that us young adults have to go on "in the future," but many of us are still in denial that this future is happening right now. When you have been waiting so long for a certain phase in your life, it doesn't truly sink in until your parents have said their goodbyes and you are left to fend for yourself on a campus that you hardly know all by yourself.
2. Nervousness
Will I make any friends? Will people think I'm weird if I am walking around by myself? Am I going to be able to keep up with my social life and my studies? The thoughts are endless! These are all questions that seem to haunt us freshman every minute when we first arrive, even though we often pretend that we are not nervous at all.
3. Feeling Overwhelmed
The ice-breakers, lectures, and list of rules seem to go on forever, and we can't help but feel overwhelmed with all the activities and information being thrown at us. Even though we understand that all the information we are given is necessary, we can't help but feel happy when we finally get breaks to either relax or socialize.
4. Excitement
Once the activities are done for the day, we feel excited to finally have the time to just do whatever we want and socialize with whomever we please. We have more freedom than we have ever had in our lives, and we are excited by all the possibilities.
5. Exhaustion
At the end of the day, with all the good emotions and the overwhelming ones, we can't help but feel exhausted by all the endless activities. But no matter how tired we are, we always manage to get up and have another amazing day despite how tired we feel!
And to think that classes haven't even begun yet....
