The spectrum of music genres is vast and diverse. If you do not listen to mainstream music, though, it can be hard to find people who appreciate the same songs that you do. It is often a struggle to answer and explain when people ask about your favorite album or artist, and chances are high that you're not the first person your friends choose to play music when you hang out. Here are just a few more of the many thoughts and experiences that all people who listen to lesser known genres are sure to relate to, no matter what that genre may be:
1. It's hard to keep up with the latest hits that all your friends are talking about
No, I have not heard that song before. It's by who? No, that name does not ring a bell...
2. It's exciting to meet someone who likes the same music
Finding someone with the same music taste is not always easy, so when it happens, it is quite the occasion for both of you. It is great to finally be able to relate with someone about something you love, and often times a great starting point for conversations and friendships.
3. You worry that your music is too loud and people might hear it through your headphones.
You're especially paranoid in quieter places with lots of people. You turn the volume almost all the way down if someone glances at you, take out your earbuds to make sure nobody else can hear, then turn the volume up one notch and check again.
4.You never hear your favorite songs playing in public.
Restaurants and cafes? No. Stores and shopping malls? Nope. Dances and parties? Also no. If you do happen to recognize the song somewhere, it is a moment to remember.
5. Whether other people like it or not, nothing is better than listening to your favorite song.
You love the music you listen to whether or not other people agree. Your music makes you happy, and in the end, that's all that really matters.
