With the end of August approaching, and many students starting the fall semester, the truth is becoming more apparent. Summer is near the end for most of us, but what other signs are there that summer is truly ending? Here are five undeniable signs that summer will soon be over, and Fall (along with reality) is soon to set in.
1. School Semester Begins
Nothing brings an end to endless summer nights and pool parties than the beginning of the school semester. Although the weather may still be warm, the amount of studying and homework to be done is a definite signal that the summer is nearly at its end
2. Labor Day Weekend
If the warm weather deludes you into thinking that summer is here to stay, then Labor Day weekend is an indicator to that the beginning of September will definitely bring cooler weather, shorter days, and orange leaves.
The holiday barbecues, pool parties, and warm weather indicate the end of the season for most people, since the next holidays, Columbus Day and Halloween, land in October, which are well into the fall season.
3. Football Season
The beginning of football season is also a reminder that the summer is nearly over, since the regular season begins in September. The beginning of football season usually marks the quick transition from warm to cooler weather, and eventually sweater weather.
4. Shorter days, cooler mornings
As August ends and the month of September begins, the subtle change in daylight occurs. The days begin to slowly get shorter, and by the end of September, the sunsets around 7:00pm, versus around 9:00pm during the summer.
During September, the mornings begin to be cooler to the point of wearing a sweater with shorts since it will cool in the morning and hot in the afternoon. The subtle weather changes indicate that cold weather is fast approaching, and the warm rays of summer are ending
5. Seasonal drinks change
When most of your favorite coffee/tea shops stop serving tropical teas fruitful summer flavors, and promote less of their iced coffee, it is a sure indicator that summer is ending. This is especially true when the hot, pumpkin flavored drinks begin to take their place.
No matter how much we try to deny it, most of our summer vacations are coming to an end. Best of luck in the transition from Summer to Fall.
