5 Signs You Are From Beaufort, South Carolina
Southern Traveler

Beaufort, South Carolina is a town some would describe as small, historic and southern. It is home to nearly 12,000 people. Living in Beaufort means living in an area where the tide changes and the temperature doesn't. Fishing, crabbing and sunset chasing seems to be some of the favorite ways to pass time. Although Beaufort engulfs the eyes of many tourist it is what would be considered home to people like me.

Five signs you are from Beaufort are ...

1. When you travel to Florida for vacation you expect the tide to dramatically change, but it never does.

2. You know everybody, whether you've actually met them or not. It's a small town and everyone knows someone. One way or another you are going to hear about that person.

3. Your Snapchat Story, Facebook or Instagram is filled with the beautiful sunsets of the Lowcountry.

4. If you travel north during the winter, you are very excited to see the changed leaves.

5. You have had a run in with pluff mud one way or another. Maybe you fell in it and started sinking, maybe it stained your clothes or maybe you have just had to explain what pluff mud is to visitors 800 times.

No matter what marks your roots, there is always things you will catch yourself thinking about when you leave Beaufort. Beaufort has become a bigger part of you than you realize. This quiet, beautiful, small, Lowcountry town has its own customs which will stay with you for a lifetime.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
