On July 24, I had the pleasure of attending and photographing 5 Seconds of Summer's Sounds Live Feels Live tour when it stopped in Atlanta at Aaron's Amphitheatre at Lakewood. They were my favorite band in high school (and, honestly, they still are today) and I had seen them several times before, so I knew to expect a great show.

Up-and-coming pop band Hey Violet kicked off the show. They were the first ever band to be signed to 5 Seconds of Summer's label, 'Hi or Hey Records.'

This is their second time touring with 5 Seconds of Summer, and their hard work is definitely paying off.

Since last year, Hey Violet's songwriting skills have matured and they have become much more polished performers. They definitely have a future in the music business.

Japanese rock band One Ok Rock performed next, and they amazed everyone in the crowd.

Since 5 Seconds of Summer is trying to move away from the boyband stereotype, these guys were an appropriate opening act, since they went harder and screamed louder than boybands would. If you haven't heard their music before, they are similar to most bands you could find at Warped Tour.

What distinguished them from other opening acts I've seen was the amount of energy they brought to the stage. The lead singer, Takahiro Moriuchi, was constantly running around the stage, and I was amazed that his voice stayed so strong during the entire set.

I've been a fan of 5 Seconds of Summer for about three years. Something I picked up on as soon as I started paying attention to them was how dedicated the relationship was between the band and the fans. That dedication was more than evident during the show.

The crowd was already going crazy before the intro, Carry On. The song is the final track on their latest album, Sounds Good Feels Good. While the studio version is only about a minute long and the live version was a fraction of that, it is an uplifting song that was a great way to demand the audience's attention.

After the intro, the guys immediately switched gears to play a number of fast-paced and guitar-driven songs, which is the style they are known for. Lead singer Luke Hemmings and lead guitarist Michael Clifford had several guitar battles that made the crowd go wild.

5 Seconds of Summer is frequently labeled as a boyband even though they each play an instrument and write their own songs. They have this stereotype because they got their start touring with One Direction. While they did somewhat follow in their footsteps, they were more inspired by Green Day and blink-182 than by boybands.

5 Seconds of Summer is known to engage with fans during the show. Before their most recent single from SGFG, Jet Black Heart, Clifford stood alone on the stage, took out his earpieces, and stared at the crowd with appreciation. He stood there for several minutes taking everything in while the crowd chanted his name.

When they slowed it down for Waste the Night, Hemmings split the audience into three sections to see which one was the loudest. Then before Vapor, Clifford dedicated the song to showing love to people who are experiencing the parts of life that can be terrible. "People like you come to concerts like these to celebrate the good times. And that's what we're all about tonight," Clifford said, "spreading some love." He continued, "Spread some sort of love to someone, okay? Just anyone." I looked around me at the audience, and almost every person there was hugging someone else.

Spreading love is one thing that this band is all about - that's what drew me to them in 2013. Ever since I listened to the song that they wrote specifically for their fans, I was amazed by how often they would go out of their way to spread love. Most importantly, their connection with the fanbase is able to bring people together who otherwise would have been total strangers. There is no better way to spread love than through music.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
