Each year, at the stroke of midnight we close our eyes and do one of two things. Either we kiss someone or we make a resolution. Both if you're lucky.
Most of the resolutions have repeated themselves over and over again as we get older. Usually, we start them in January and they begin to die down in March. We're all guilty.
This New Year is going to be different with these five goals that not only are attainable, but challenge you to become a better version of yourself.
1. Take up opportunities
Don't be afraid to take a chance and try something new. This could be anything from joining a new club, getting involved with the church, signing up for an internship, getting a new job or even doing some community service. You'll be amazed on how this one tiny step to a new opportunity can open doors for you.
2. Conquer one of your fears
Our fears halt us from doing new things. Fears make us weak and dominate us. Not anymore. This year take your fear and go head to head with it. Nothing should stop you from living your blissful life. By facing your fears you become a stronger.
3. Meet new people
Instead of sheltering yourself or even limiting yourself to the same friend group don't be afraid to step into the world and discover new people. Always remember they are stranger today but can be your best friend the next. Every single person has a story and you should try to hear every story you can before it's too late.
4. Cut out negativity
Whether this is a toxic relationship, friend(s), or habit cutting out negatively in your life will allow you to grow. Do not get stuck in the same loop day by day. By allowing yourself to separate the negatively in your life you are showing a sign of maturity and hopefulness.
5. Mend your past mistakes
The saying "you should leave the past in the past" does not delete everything you have done. This is one of the hardest things to do. Coming face to face with your past mistakes is hard, scary and makes my palms sweat at the thought of it. But really, your getting older so why not get more wiser as well. Allow yourself to see the mistakes you made in the past and find a solution once in for all. Though, it is a New Year, your past can keep your mind pondering at unanswered questions. Help your mind and yourself move on by finding answers, apologizing and mending.
These goals will not cost you anything besides a small portion of your time to help you flourish into a better you. Don't let this year be another year of missed chances and regret. You can do this. And Happy New Year!
