5 Religious Quotes That Non-Religious People Should Still Hear
Elizabeth Colagrande

During my freshman year of college I was going through a really rough time. I remember walking back to my dorm room and finding a small prayer book outside my door. I didn't know why or how it got there, but I decided to pick it up. Inside, were highlighted verses that I found comforting in a time when I wasn't doing too well. I still have the prayer journal to this day and read it every now and then. I decided to share some of my favorite verses for those of you who aren't having the best of days lately. Even if you aren't religious, I hope you can find comfort in some of these words.

For those with anxiety: Phil. 4:5-7

"Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ."

For those who need hope: Romans 15:13

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."

For those who are worried: 1 Peter 5:6,7

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."

For those with relationship/friend problems: Prov. 18:24

"A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."

For those who look for peace: John 16:33

" I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world."

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
