College is weird because you can pretty much go out and party any day of the week.
You'd be hard pressed to find a night where at least one of your friends wouldn't be down to go out with you. As tempting and exciting as it may be for some, I'm here to make the argument that staying in (alone or with friends) is almost always the better option.
After all, I'm a 4th year so I'm pretty ancient and hopefully have gained at least a little bit of wisdom in my college career so far...
1. Better Sleep
Nothing is better than a great night's sleep. Staying in gives you the luxury of going to bed whenever you want. Laying your head peacefully on your pillow and drifting to sleep at a decent hour is 100x more enjoyable than standing at a bar in heels waiting for the bartender to notice you.
2. You'll Save Money
Why am I suddenly not at all concerned with money when I go out? I'll complain about spending $15 on a book for class, but won't flinch at spending $30 on 6 weak drinks downtown. Not to mention an Uber and the inevitable late night pizza. Which brings me to my next point...
3. Healthier
Sure, going out can be a ton of fun, but after a while it can be bad for your health. Between drinking alcohol, eating junk food late, and getting less sleep than you probably should, your body and mind won't be able to be their best.
4. Better Grades
A combination of having a clearer mind and being more readily available to your school work should ultimately result in higher grades. This one can't be guaranteed, but at least you'll be less likely to skip class if you're actually waking up in your own apartment.
5. Strangers Are Overrated
We all have this fantasy of going out and meeting our soulmate or new best friend, but how often does that really happen? Wouldn't you rather stay in with people you already know you like and have fun with them!? Even if you went out you'd probably mostly talk to each other! Who really cares about a bunch of drunk, sweaty strangers downtown?
On second thought, I might just be really lame.
