5 Reasons Why You Should Be Bullet Journaling

School supplies shopping is my life. Buying fancy cute journals and pens? I'm so guilty. Maybe I have an entire Amazon wish list for art and school supplies. So what. That's totally normal right? Right?

With the school year coming upon us quickly, it was clearly time for me to get my 3rd planner this year. (I wish this was a joke, but its honestly not).

Planners are more important to me than actual textbooks. I want to say I'm ashamed about that, but I'm really not.

Bullet Journaling is perfect. I don't think I can sum up what bullet journaling is in just one sentence. I guess you could say that a bullet journal is the most personalized planner/journal you can possibly get. I know I know, you're probably thinking "Cori that sounds like way too much work."

So sit back, and let me tell you why I think you should be BuJo-ing (bullet Journal).

1. You will look like you have your life together

These Instagram beauties scream "I know what I'm doing with my life!" Either that, or these artists got bored while they were watching Netflix. Either way, shout out to them and their creativity. I could scroll through these all day. (Just search "bullet Journal" on either Pinterest and Instagram. I promise it will inspire you.)

2. You can start out super simple (and copying is encouraged)

When you saw the first picture, you probably didn't think it could be this simple huh? The golden rule of Bullet Journaling is you make it the way you want it to be. Don't get discouraged or overwhelmed by the fancy, colorful layouts. Just go for whatever you are comfortable with. It's a beautiful thing.

3. You can literally put whatever you want in it

Savings goals? Let's make a chart, list, picture, something to track that. Got books you want to read? Let's make a fun little bookshelf with all the titles. Yearly goals? A must. Gratitude list? Check. Daily planner/journal pages? Yep. It's all about doing what you need and working it the best way for you. Its basically the best thing ever.

4. It actually really relaxing, honest.

You're probably thinking "I am a perfectionists and this will take forever. It will be way more stressful than helpful." I honestly didn't start one because I was 1) intimidated and 2) seriously doubted I had enough time to keep up with it. Honestly its the highlight of my day. Those 5-10 minutes I spend updating my BuJo or starting a new page help me feel refreshed and give me a little bit of creative down time. I don't feel pressured to do anything but let it naturally come together. It's an awesome feeling.

5. Did I mention you can literally make it whatever you want it to be???

The original and official bullet journal includes your index, your future log, your monthly log, and your daily log. Because you make this your own, you can put whatever you like. You tailor it to your needs. There's no wasted space because you make the space what you want it to be. My bullet journal doesn't include monthly logs or weekly logs at all. I love it that way.

I hope I've convinced you to give bullet journalling a try. What I've laid out today is the basics, but I know some time later next month, before school starts, I will create a second bullet journal solely devoted to school, study schedules, assignments, etc. Bullet Journalling is amazing and it has helped me see progress in myself, such as accomplishing my water intake goals, and it has helped me become more mindful about how I spend my time. Ultimately, it's up to you, but trust me, this is a chance worth taking!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
