You're probably familiar with sites like The Dodo, and other Facebook pages that feature cutesy mini-documentaries on dogs and their newfound leash on life (pun intended). While some have a happy ending, there are still countless dogs waiting in shelters for their forever home.
It's no exaggeration, there are literally too many dogs in shelters to even attempt to count. And while many preach #AdoptDon'tShop, some have better chances than others. Senior dogs have a much harder time finding families because of a strong stigma that, well, they're old? What's the point? Here's a few reasons why a senior pup needs you.

2. All they want is love

Senior dogs love the stuff all dogs do: rides, toys, treats, naps, and food. Especially food. Take the time to do something special with them, and make the time they have left special. Take them to a new park and let them explore their hearts out. Treat them to something they've never done before- like having their first ice cream cone, perhaps?
3. Just because they're old doesn't mean their life is over

A senior dog is a pooch who's eight years or older. They aren't going to drop dead because of it. Age is just a number. Life is what you make it. And you just might make a senior dog's life.
4. People are horrible. Don't be like them

If you're anything like the author of this article — one look at a homeless pooch is enough to start crying an ocean. The heart-wrenching thing about senior dogs is that more often than not- they've been abandoned. Which means some monster walked out on them. Be the person who shows them that they are still loved.
5. You will find your new best friend

One look into that dog's eyes — and you'll want to bring them home. Make the years they have left the best they've had. Senior dogs are just as loving, caring and compassionate as any dog. All they want is a chance to show it. After everything senior rescues have been through, the fact that they can still show love and affection is something we can all learn from and respect.
