We can all agree that summer is probably the best time of the year. Major props to the farming culture of the olden days when school had to go on pause in the summer because children had to go harvest things!! However, college summers are hands down better than summer breaks in high school.
1. No summer reading
I have never understood why teachers want to give homework during the one time of the year that is homework free. Professors do not have time for that. Also, professors are smart enough to know that no one does the reading in college anyway.
2. Longer summers
College summers start in the beginning of May and end at the end of August. High school summers start at the end of May and begin at the beginning of August. It's a raw deal.
3. You can drink wine in a restraunt instead of sharing a bottle of moonshine/rubbing alcohol in a field
PSA: Being 21 is the best. They'll say it'll get old but it never does. Being able to just have a glass of wine in the comfort of your own home is much better than having to sneak your Dad's 1,000 year old scotch that only old men like. It gets better.
4. You get to do actually meaningful work
In high school, you're probably going to do some meaningless job like washing cars or mowing lawns. In college, you actually get to have internships or *gasp* a paid job in a field you're actually interested in. Imagine that.
5. You get a little reprieve from being an adult
Being an adult is hard, yo. In high school, you just want your parents to leave you alone so you can be independent. In college, you just want someone to take care of you again. Summer is all about that and it rules.
Happy summer everyone!!
