I picture Central Park in New York City. I can't decide whether it is because of any classic romantic comedy filmed in New York or because farmer's markets just seem iconic in the Big Apple. Farmer's markets simply embody this airy vibe where people can explore, relax, and indulge in some healthy deliciousness.

However, it is seldom that I even knew a farmer's market existed in my local area. It all started with this little spiral notebook -- it was haphazardly strewn on the local visitor's desk. Curious, I read it and discovered the surprisingly high number of local farmer's markets surrounding Arizona. Well now it was time to take advantage and see what these farmer market's have to offer.

Not surprisingly, the farmer's market always seem to fall on the crack of dawn -- not all of us can be early risers no matter how hard we try. Yet, the breezy Saturday stroll, delicious treats, and uplifting energy definitely makes it worth it. These are the reasons you'll want to make your local farmer's market a frequent trip:

1. Support Your Local Homies

All of the vendors attending the farmer's markets are obviously local farmers trying to involved themselves in the local community. Often when you visit your local market, the people are just small business owners flourishing in the community. Ultimately all of your purchases invest back into your community, encouraging a flourishing local economy.

2. Invest In Your Body

Farmer's markets are the perfect opportunity to invest in your inner hippie -- this is for all you organic-loving, nature freaks! Seriously, all of the food is locally grown, in a natural environment where pesticides are discouraged. You know and trust where your produce is coming from, especially as you build your relationship with the local community.

3. The Produce Tastes So Much Better

Kind of falling in suit with # two, the produce you buy tastes much more fresh. I could just be drinking the Kool-Aid, but it seems as though the produce is humungous and exploding with vibrant colors. The apples have a little crisper of a crunch, the peaches have a little bit more fuzz, and the tomatoes, oh the tomatoes burst when you chomp into them -- simply refreshing.

4. Finding Those Odd Treasures

Whether it's a fresh bouquet of daisies or an all natural coconut oil lip balm, you discover these unique little finds that make the entire trip worth it. Finding something that you don't cook for dinner that night; these treasures add some pizzaz into the trip. The flowers make the air smell fresh and just illuminate the entire atmosphere.

5. Invest In The Local Community

You make friends -- friends, people, good quality friends are few and far in between. At farmer's markets, you meet those who share similar interests and give off such a down to earth personality. These people are genuinely happy that you want to support them and invest in your community. It is astounding the compassion and care people demonstrate toward others, especially if you visit weekly you begin to develop that relationship.

While it is only a mere few, they are more than enough reason to visit the farmer's market. Fresh, beautiful, and intriguing, farmer's market's are a refreshing start to your weekend -- remember, healthy body, healthy mind so care for yourself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
