I've always taken a trip somewhere right before I start back at school. To everyone else it's stupid, but to me, it is something everyone needs to do and here is why.
1. It allows you to clear your mind.
All types of school are stressful - from elementary school to college. Everything has its own obstacles and ways of making life a tad bit more difficult. Last minute trips allow you to focus on something that brings you joy before entering into a year of unknown ups and downs.
2. It gives you something to look back on.
Every trip you take and every memory you make during the summer is easy to look back on, but those last minute trips are normally filled with so many surprises it's a lot more enjoyable to talk about the time you decided to pack your bag and go somewhere random all in one day.
3. It teaches you to be spontaneous.
Leaving for a four-day vacation five days before you start school is spontaneous enough, but normally the whole trip's agenda is made up as you go. These last minute vacays really prepare you for anything and everything that can be thrown your way during the upcoming school year because you already had to think quick on your feet to manage to get wherever you were going.
4. It helps open your mind.
Vacations are always relaxing even if your family has 20 million "I don't know, what do you want to do conversations". There is just something about those last minute ones that really allow you to open up your mind because you don't have time to say "I don't know" or "Well it's whatever you want to do."
5. It makes something about you.
Your last minute vacay is 100%, without a doubt, all about you. You planned it in a matter of minutes, and it's your little baby to make it the best vacay yet. That's right, you get to be selfish right before jumping back into the school year.
So, yes, it's a little crazy to leave last minute, but you should do it. Clear your mind and create memories- oh and make all your friends jealous that you did something a little crazy, but it made you oh so happy!!!
