I have been dancing for about 15 years and summers off are always hard. It is also hard to find a good workout for yourself because running for extensive periods of time can strain your joints too much which makes it difficult to dance!
I also have a hip injury that prevents me from working out like I used to be able to, and too many high impact activities (including dancing) can negatively affect your body, which is why I needed to find something low-impact but effective.
I had received a gift card for Pure Barre so I was finally like what the heck let's try it out, and boy am I glad that I did just that!
1. It's probably the hardest thing I have ever done.
Truly, the workouts they have you do are incredibly effective. In the month that I have already been there I am already seeing the results of the classes! It is truly amazing how such simple movements begin to make such a huge difference in your body.
2. Guaranteed sweat and shakes.
Every single class I have been to I am sweating within 10 minutes (which is abnormal for me) and my muscles will shake a. lot. Which is great because that means what you are doing is working! In fact, at Pure Barre the applaud and encourage shakes which makes you want to keep pushing through.
3. Low impact, but a great workout.
Like I said earlier, I have a pretty serious hip injury that has hindered my ability to workout, miraculously pure barre doesn't bother it one bit!
4. The positive environment.
The people and the instructors will push you to do your best and furthermore will applaud your hard work in class. It is also hands on teaching so if your form isn't your best your instructor will come correct you and then give you a compliment because positive environments are everything!
5. You will train to be strong (mentally & physically).
Barre classes challenge you to work through the discomfort of your muscles feeling like they are on fire- literally. It challenges you to work through that discomfort and push yourself to keep going- as a result you will get better and better each week and continue to push yourself instead of giving up!
The only negative thing I have to say about barre is that it is a little too expensive which means most people taking the classes are older/middle-aged women, I feel like if they came down on pricing more young adults and teens would take the class and see the amazing benefits of it.
