Your freshman year of college was probably more stressful and harder than you imagined. You barely got through it, but you managed to. Even though some may refer to sophomore year as the "sophomore slump", it wont be nearly as bad as your freshman year! Here are 5 reasons why sophomore year will be better:

1. No more freshman orientation.

Move in week for freshman is about 4 days before classes actually begin. This was done so that we as freshman could have some time to ourselves to get to know the campus before the upperclassmen moved back. Looking back, there were many fun activities that we did, but sitting through all the different assemblies was probably by far the worst part of freshman orientation. Since we are sophomores now, we won't have to move in a few days prior to the semester starting and even better yet, we won't have to sit through so many assemblies!

2. You will actually have friends.

Come freshman year, everyone is worried about starting college because there is really nobody they know. If you are lucky like I was, you will have a few friends from high school attending the same college. This year, when starting sophomore year, you will have the friends that you met freshman year!

3. You will know where to go both on and off campus.

Now that you have had a year experience on campus, you will know what food places to avoid, what meal nights to avoid, and bests of all, where to eat! Aside from knowing where to go and where to avoid on campus now, you will also know where to avoid going off campus. That restaurant you gave a try last year and didn't like at all, yeah now you not to go back or recommend it to any of your friends.

4. More knowledge about time-management.

You learned that writing a 10 page paper the night before it was due was a bad idea. You also probably found out that studying the night before an exam was also a bad idea too. Hopefully you can now manage your time better and know that you can have fun along the way!

5.You now know your way around campus!

Freshman year, you probably would look at the campus map before leaving your dorm and that is OK. It more than likely took a few weeks if not months getting the layout of campus down. Now, you will know everything is and the short cuts to getting there!

There you have it, 5 reasons why your sophomore year of college will be better than your freshman year! No need to worry or stress about thinking that you will have a bad sophomore year of college!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
