5 Reasons Why September Is The Best Month

Wake Me Up When September Starts, Not When it Ends.

The month of September is once again upon us. The weather is finally cooling down, children finally go back to school, my ten-year high school reunion is just around the corner, and seasonal coffee flavors at Starbucks are back! I cannot wait for sweat-shirt weather. Those who know me well enough know that I am not a fan of the summertime.

1. New Seasons For Television Series.

Many television shows on networks like CBS conclude their season around May each year. The season finale often ends with huge cliffhangers, leaving fans on the edge of their seats for the next four months wondering what will happen next. It is cool that reruns of these shows will air periodically so we are not completely without the show for several months, but these reruns will not answer those questions that we are dying to know.

2. Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

I used to not care for pumpkin spice lattes, probably because I am not a fan of pumpkin pie. I finally introduced my taste buds to this wonderful seasonal flavor last year. I have tried both hot and iced pumpkin spice lattes, and I have to say that I like the hot one a lot more than the iced one. With Starbucks' s'mores frappucinos no longer available because it is no longer summer, now it is time for some pumpkin spice in my life once again.

3. Tourists Go Back Home.

As if traffic around where I live is not bad enough already, it only gets worse in the summer due to visitors from out of town and even out of state driving down to one of our many beaches along the Jersey shore. Many of them are also rather rude and act entitled. These people, in general, are difficult to deal with.

4. Children Are Back In School.

Anybody who has ever worked in retail has at least one story regarding a kid causing trouble in their store. Some parents will drop their children at the local mall or shopping center, give them some money, and let them roam free. Some kids are respectful and cause no issues, however, that is not the case more often than not. They can become an unnecessary distraction.

I do not get paid enough as is, so no I would rather not "babysit" your children as well. If I really wanted to babysit, I would get myself a side gig doing that.

5. The Weather Starts To Cool Down.

If the weather is higher than 70 degrees, I can almost guarantee you that I will be running warm. As much as I also do not like being cold, at least if I am cold I can wear as many layers of clothing as I please to warm myself up. I enjoy wearing comfortable sweatpants and sweatshirts. I will turn down the room temperature low enough that I can wear a sweatshirt comfortably.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
