Mindy Kaling first won our hearts as her character Kelly on "The Office." She went on to have her own television show, "The Mindy Project," which she writes and produces. Mindy is a unique individual, and she's basically the best friend you've never had. Not convinced? Here's why we love her.

1. Her dating life is totally relatable.

Mindy has been through every situation – awkward first dates, uncomfortable encounters with her exes, hookups, breakups, and of course, long term relationships. Whether or not you are willing to admit it, her words are translating your thoughts, and it gives you an eerie feeling that maybe she's a mind reader?

2. She is comfortable with herself.

Mindy talks a lot about her weight, but she really embraces it, even mocks herself in her writing and on her show. Her confidence allows her to make fun of herself while sending an important message to her audience: be comfortable with yourself.

3. She loves food.

Thank goodness someone does. We all have that friend who says they "love food" but only eat a few bites of their salad. Meanwhile, the rest of us are gorging on pizza and regretting it half an hour later, but man, it was so delicious in the moment.

4. She says some pretty profound things, and it's kind of like your Mom encouraging you, and you don't want to disappoint her.

Kaling has been known to be a feminist, and she genuinely wants to make young girls and women everywhere feel empowered to take on anything. She's a graduate of Dartmouth College, which makes everything she says just about ten times better. She has written plays, has published two books, produces multiple TV shows, and even writes and directs her own. She has life goals. We need more women like her in the entertainment business, using their fame to convey a message to their followers and fans.

5. She's pretty quirky and it makes you feel pretty normal.

Mindy's life is unique, especially on her show, but she says things you know only Mindy Kaling would say. Audiences are constantly wondering, "How did she come up with that saying?" but come on; it's Mindy Kaling.

Mindy Kaling has quite the personality, and we're so glad she does. If you're still not convinced she would be the best best friend ever, check her out o "The Office," "The Mindy Project," or really just anytime she's in front of a camera. Hopefully, by then, you'll be convinced she is the greatest person ever.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
