Warning: Spoilers Ahead

Yes, I said it. Descendants 2 is the best DECOM to come out in years. Even though I am in college, I still watched the movie opening night with help from theFreeform website. Call it childish but I watched the first movie a few years back and honestly wanted to see what happened next. I mean, come on, there is a child in all of us and watching a Disney film is the perfect time to bring it out! This list is full of five (not so typical) reasons why I thought Descendants was pretty amazing.

1. It promotes the idea that girls can do anything.

Throughout the movie, female characters such as Mal, Evie, and Lonnie are seen helping the guys, and honestly, doing a better job at saving the day then most of the male characters. All of the female characters are strong and independent roll models that show anyone just how amazing a girl can be.

2. Women are not the only ones who need saving.

Something that was very "un-Disney" about the film (but I loved) was that the women do the rescuing. Usually Disney movies such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty, the men come and rescue the women from the dangerous situations... Excluding Mulan. I mean she saved all of China! Anyway, when King Ben needed to go to the Isle, he turned to Evie to take him there. When he got captured by the enemy, it was up to Mal to save him. And lastly, when the sword fencing team at Auradon Prep was down a player Jay turns to Lonnie to become the new team captain, getting around the rule book which says "a team will be comprises of eight men and a captain". He literally gives up his position as team captain just so she could be a member.

3. It is okay to be yourself!

In the beginning of the film, Mal is going through a hard time. She is trying to be the person everyone wants her to be but in the process she looses her true self. Throughout the movie she is able to find herself again while at the same time saving Auradon and its king. In the end it is the real Mal that everyone admires and respects most. Not the new blonde she had become. It shows people that someone will alway like you for you. You do not have to change to fit someone else's mold!

4. Moving on is not always a bad thing.

Sometimes you can change for the better. The first Descendants film hints that the gang, Carlos, Evie, Jay, and Mal all shake their evil ways, but it is not until the second film that we truly see how much they have grown. They all were able to change for the better. Even though Mal second guesses this new transformation, in the end she is truly able to see that she can be good while still being herself at the same time.

5. You can get through anything with help from your friends.

It is never a bad thing to ask for help! In Descendants 2 all of the characters are able to lean on one another no matter how big or small the problem is. The film lets viewers know that it is always easier when you have a friend by your side. Wether you are saving the King or just simply need some advice, you can always turn to a friend. The people who love you will always have your back!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
