5 Quotes Every College Kid Needs

College is a stressful time and it’s super easy to get caught up by a bad test grade, a break up, or a hard day. More often than not you allow a negative experience to translate into your self-worth as a person. The first few months of college, especially if you’re a Freshmen, can be filled with self-doubt and a lot of late night thoughts about if you made the right decision by choosing the school, or moving away, or staying home, is your major the right choice, is this where you want to spend four years?

  1. “Only in the darkness can you see the stars. - Martin Luther King Jr” There are going to be many lows throughout your college career, but those lows are not the end. Those lows are reminders to push past and open your eyes to all the things you are capable of accomplishing.
  2. "Positive thinking is more than just a tagline. It changes the way we behave. And I firmly believe that when I am positive, it not only makes me better, but it also makes those around me better. - Harvey Mackay” It is so easy in college and generally in this current culture to allow negativity to win, to allow your mindset to be shifted. Positive thinking is imperative at a time in your life filled with so many uncertainties.

Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly. -Langston HughesListen to me, your parents, your advisor, your friends, your professor do not have the power to tell you that your dreams or your degree is not right for you. You are the only person that can make that decision. Don’t give up on your dreams.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
