6 Products I Didn't Appreciate Until I Went To College
Dormify

The college lifestyle is definitely a change filled with more freedom and independence. There is a long packing list that comes when moving to your college dorm. Below are a list of products that are extremely practical and useful for college life that I did not realize beforehand.

1. Adhessive Cellphone Card Holder

These card holders carry my entire life. At one point or another, it has held my credit cards, dorm key, ID card, and driver's license. It is a great way to keep your cards in a handy place always available for your uses. However, just remember to replace it, when the adhessive part begins to lose its stick!

2. Venmo

It truly is the easiest way to pay back friends and family to the exact penny if necessary.

3. Calendar

As unorganized and messy as I am, a calendar was something that I inevitably needed. It helped me plan out and remind myself of important dates, tests, meetings, and exciting nights out planned. It allowed me to organize and plan accordingly in time for my events.

4. Disinfectant Wipes

From all the sticky spills to dusty window edges, disinfectant wipes become your best friend throughout the messy college semester.

5. Outlet Extension Cord

With the few outlets available in hard to reach awkward places, an extension cord was extremely helpful. It is necessary for my plethora of electrical products used for the printer, computer, phone, lamp, and hair straightener.

6. Picnic Blankets

A picnic blanket is an easy and comfy solution to the itchy grass and stains from dirt patches that come with laying out on the lawn and other grassy areas. Many students go out on the lawn to suntan, play spike ball, do homework, and hang out with friends.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
