5 Pieces of Advice I Wish I Followed Sooner

Everyone has been given advice quite a few times in their lives, but not all advice has to be taken. Some pieces of advice can be taken to your interpretation, while others are set in stone. No matter what, you can usually find a small part if advice you are given that you can learn from. These thing are mostly well known of the surface, but when looked at more closely, have a deeper and more important meaning.

1. Don't blame everything bad that happens on yourself-sometimes, things just happen and you can't control them. It isn't healthy to believe that you are at the root of all your problems. Sure, there are some problems that occur that can be prevented by a change in your life, but sometimes, stuff happens that is out of your control. Do not believe that everything bad that happens to you is a direct result of a choice you made.

2. Find your group of close friends and run with them- when you find the people in your life that accept you no matter what, run with them. Friends are so important in life, so find yours and appreciate them everyday of your life. They will be there during the happiest times, the scariest of times, and at your lowest points. When you find those people who are willing to do anything for you and life you up, please appreciate them.

3. Don't underestimate family- you are born into your family for a reason, and they can be the best people you know. Don't be afraid to turn to them in a time of need or to just have fun. Whether you live with them or only see them every so often, most people are a phone call away. Do not be afraid to tell them if you are in trouble, or if you are just happy and want to share that with them.

4. Trying new things isn't as scary as it seems- sometimes, you figure out the things you enjoy best in life because someone forced you to do it. Don't be afraid to try new things; if it doesn't work out, you can always say that you tried. So try that new food that someone has been trying to force down your throat or adventure out of your comfort zone, all adventures make for an interesting story.

5. Be the best version of yourself- don't sell yourself short. Don't assume they you're everyone's least favorite friend, think about yourself the way you think about your friends. Do what you want, even if it isn't the "cool" thing. No matter what, follow your heart. At the end of the day, this is your life and you only have one. Do not dress like what you think others will like or do not act a certain way in hopes to impress others. You are loved by the genuine people in your life for exactly the person you are.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
