5 Perks Of Going To An All Women's College

I highly suggest looking into an all women's education.

To be totally honest, the thought of attending an all women's school worried me at first. I was afraid my school year would be filled with endless drama and petty arguments. Instead my first semester has been filled with acceptance and sisterhood.

1. Everyday is a lazy day

When you don't have to worry about boys judging you by what you're wearing, literally every day is lazy day. For everyone. No girls are worried about impressing a guy by what they wear to class therefore everyone dresses lazy. For those of us who always dress lazy anyway, it's kind of a blessing.

2. Everyone is Focused

In high school, class was always being disrupted by girls flirting with boys or boys trying to impress the hottest girl in the class; whereas here, at an all women's college, we are all 100 percent focused on our studies in class. We devote ourselves to learning and are not being distracted by other people trying to get a date in class.

3. No boys late at night

My mom used to tell me horror stories of her roommates having boys overnight, and I never want to experience that. While some complain about the curfew for guys in the residence halls, I really appreciate it. I can take a shower at night and walk to my room in a robe while not having to worry about a guy catching a glimpse of my pink and white polka-dotted bathrobe.

4. Privacy

Sometimes you just don't want boys around. Another horror story I heard was someone walked into their room, started getting dressed without realizing their roommates had guys over. Talk about mortifying! I will never have to worry about coming home after midnight, after a night of working hard at the library, and realizing I have no privacy.

5. Sisterhood

It sounds cheesy, and trust me it is. Saint Mary's is known for its wide-spread sisterhood, a bond between Saint Mary's women. My first week here all I heard about was how these strangers I'm meeting will someday be my sisters. I did not see it at first, but as I joined clubs and got involved, I can see the formation of sisterhood.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
