5 Period Symptoms You Wish Would Disappear
Sheknows

Periods, worst nightmare of a woman, or at least most women. We feel like we're dying on the inside and refuel ourselves by eating our weight in chocolate and potato chips. There are those few lucky ones who have periods that do not last very long and aren't that bad, then there are the rest of us, whose periods make us wonder if we're ever still living. Regardless of the duration or harshness of one's period, there are five symptoms that we all have and wish would just disappear!

1. Bloating.

The second worst symptom of a period that all women face. We perform the "jump-and-pull" move when trying to put on our favorite jeans but to no aleve. Because of this horrid curse, we just give up on trying to look cute in sweatpants and baggy t-shirts to make ourselves look and feel smaller than what our body is telling us.

2. Cravings for Literally Everything and then Eating it.

Do we want chocolate or do we want Ramen? Or maybe both? Being on your period means cravings for anything that's remotely edible. It also means going from eating something sweet to eating something salty back to eating something sweet to get the salty taste out of your mouth. Food is essentially the life of a woman on her period. Eating doesn't help with the bloating.

3. Heavy Flow.

Heavy flow is frightening and is typically right smack-dab in the middle of "shark week". Leaking is a big problem with heavy flow days and it seems that no matter what you try to do to prevent it from happening, it always manages to happen. Blood is literally everywhere and would make one wonder how we even survive with the amount of blood that leaves our body. We also go through the most pads and/or tampons during a heavy flow and it's rather costly.

4. Unpredictable Moods.

Mood swings suck. One minute you can be extremely happy about something and in the next, you'll burst into tears over nothing. It's as if our emotions are working on overdrive and are extremely unpredictable. Anything can happen and it's rather scary and annoying.

5. Cramps.

Cramps. Dreaded cramps. Cramps are the absolute worst part of a period. It feels as though our uterus is being ripped apart from the inside out. We feel like we are dying on the inside and wonder how we survive an entire week worth of this torture.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
