Dear Lord,
Or dear Jesus? Dear God? I don't know the proper way to start an informal prayer. I mean, I know how to start a formal prayer, but I like to start praying thinking that I am talking to an old friend. At night when I lay awake and can't sleep, I fold my hands and pray. I pray until I sleep, and hope for sweet dreams on the way. Now, I've never been overly religious.
But I have the utmost respect for Christians of all kinds, whether that means church every Sunday, or church when you can make it on time.
I respect every religion because I believe in the freedom of religion. If someone wants to pray to their God about me, I'm thankful, because I'm in their thoughts. I've always had a close relationship with God. And that's because he's my God. Even when I was trying to find my way, I remained guided and loved. So at night when I can't sleep (which is most nights) I try to talk (pray) to an old friend.
Here are 5 people I pray about and hope they pray for me, too!
1. Parents
I pray for my parents every day, I don't know where or who or what I would be without them.
2. My Significant Other
4. Enemies
That's right, I pray for people who don't wish me well. Whether I'm aware they aren't fond of me or not, I still think about them, and that they may be happy in life too. I pray they reach peace of mind.
5. Strangers
I pray for strangers. I pray for the general population. I want my future kids add my kid brothers and my friends and family and future children to grow up in a safe and loving environment; so I pray for a world where that environment truly exists.
And if you're reading this,
I pray for you, too. I hope this is finding you in good health, and that you're warm, safe, and loved.
