These stories have been in the news recently. There are many senior officials in the Trump administration that are abusing taxpayer money. Not only are cabinet members blowing through funds, the Trump family is also using taxpayer money on their vacations. Since V.P. Mike Pence's publicity stunt that cost us nearly a quarter of a million dollars, when he flew to a Indianapolis Colts game and then left when players were kneeling during the anthem, I thought I would make a list of five officials in the Trump administration that are abusing our hard earned money.

Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump- over $300,000

Jared, Ivanka, Eric, and Eric's wife Lara, took a week-long ski trip in March of this year costing us over $300,000 dollars. Eric Trump also brought along his dogs. Believe it or not this is not the only ski trip that Ivanka and Jared have taken so far. They also took another one in April, to celebrate Passover, which cost $65,000 dollars. These totals are not just for Secret Service wages either. You would think a family as rich as the Kushner's and the Trump's would be able to pay for their own ski equipment.

Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin- over $800,000

Steve Mnuchin used a military jet to meet with Trump, which round trip cost us $15,000. Later in the year, he traveled by military jet to meet with a Mexican finance minister in Miami which cost over $43,000. This trip, if he had traveled commercially would have cost under $1,000. Then after being denied a military jet to take his wife on a European honeymoon, Mnuchin and his wife hopped on a military jet to Fort Knox to look at the gold that is stored there and watch the solar eclipse. This flight cost nearly $27,000. Mr. Mnuchin is a former Goldman-Sachs banker and still has his hand in producing movies. Why is he using and requesting to use military jets for personal use?

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke- over $12,000

Zinke and his staff boarded a flight, the plane was owned by some oil-and-gas executives out of Wyoming, from Las Vegas to Kalispell, Montana. This trip cost us more than $12,000. The same trip, if traveled commercially, would have only cost around $300. Zinke has also used private or chartered flightsto fly to the Virgin Islands, but don't think that this was because of the recent hurricanes. These trips happened back in March and April. He also used a chartered flight in June to give a motivating speech to the Las Vegas Golden Knights, which is apparently a hockey team. Did you know that? I didn't. The owner has previously donated money to Zinke's two congressional runs.

Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos- nearly $8 million

Yeah you read that right. It has cost us nearly $8 million dollars just in security for Betsy DeVos.

Donald and Melania Trump- more than $21 million

That total was taken in July. It is also just the total amount on personal trips from the White House to Mar-a-lago, Trump Tower in New York, and his golf resort in New Jersey. When Melania and Barron were still living in New York, it cost on average $127,000 to $145,000 a day to keep them safe. Trump goes to Mar-a-lago nearly every weekend. The Secret Service has to pay for their own rooms when they stay at the golf resort.

Things have gotten so bad recently that the Secret Service is struggling to pay agents who are hitting overtime caps. Someone needs to look into this situation. Some of it is being investigated. Mnuchin's private flights are being investigated by the Inspector General. It begs the question, if Tom Price was fired because of his abuse of $400,000 in taxpayer money, why not everyone else? Trump is on track to surpass Obama's travel expense, which was $97 million in eight years, in just one year. Resist.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
