With the new year swiftly approaching, this is the time in which we analyze the events of the current year and make resolutions that will help us make the new year even better. While new years resolutions can vary, a lot of people tend to have new years resolutions that have similarities. The biggest difference that distinguishes our new year's resolutions from others is the level in which we honor them. Here is a list of 5 new years resolutions that never get honored to the full extent:
1. Be More Healthy
There is no denying that we could all be a little more healthy whether that means eating less fast food or exercising more. Unfortunately, its not until the arrival of the new year that we realize this, and this is why we always vouge to live healthier lives come the New Year. However, this state of mind only lasts a few weeks and before we know it, we are back waiting for a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger in the Wendy’s drive-thru.
2. Save More Money
Growing up, we were always told that we needed to save money in case of a rainy day. However, that was not always the case as we often spent a lot of the money that we earned on things that helped us keep up the many trends in society. Now that we are grown up, saving money is even more crucial as we must begin to build and prepare our future retirement funds. Unfortunately, the current state of the economy makes it difficult for young adults to begin their retirement funds and this often forces us to spend a lot more then we thought we would when we initially made the resolution to save more money.
3. Quit Bad Habits
If there is something that we can all agree on its that life can be too much to handle sometimes. As a result, we often to turn to bad habits such as drinking or smoking cigarettes a day to make life a little more tolerable. However, we are always aware of the fact that these vices aren’t necessarily healthy and when the new year arrives we make resolutions to quit these bad habits. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done and many people go back to these bad habits within a few months.
4. Be More Productive
As we get older, we begin to think about doing bigger and better things whether it's pursuing that dream job you always wanted or picking up a hobby. The only way to achieve this is to act upon the feeling which is why we tend to make the new years resolution to be more productive than previous years. Unfortunately, the hard work that goes into being more productive is what makes us turn back to the same level of productivity seen in past years, and as a result, the road to that dream job almost seems never-ending.
5. Try More Things That Are New
No matter who you are, there is a certain routine that you follow on a daily basis. From the places that we eat to the route we take to everyday destinations, we seldom like to veer away from our daily routine. However, as time goes on, there are hundreds of new elements that are presented to our daily routine such a new restaurant being built along our route to work. In order to add some excitement to our live we often make the new years resolution to try more things that are new. However, because our daily routines are embedded into our minds we often turn back to our daily routines whether it being unintentional or because the new addition isn’t providing the excitement that we that it would deliver.
