EveryNew Year's Eve people around the world commit to goals that they have every intention of following through with, but for some reason they end up not being able to. I don't know the reasons, and I am just as guilty as every other person who does not follow through with a goal they have set. I want this year to be different for me and I want to follow through on these 5 goals not only for 2020, but into every year that follows 2020.
1. Be The Healthiest Version Of Myself.
I haven't been an overly healthy human being, and every year I commit to the same New Year's Resolution and never end up following through with it: Get Healthy. I will be the first one to admit that I do not treat my body in a healthy manner, and this year I really am determined to follow through with it and carry it with each passing year. This year I am setting the goal to workout 3-4 times per week and to eat healthy a good 90% of the time, but also allowing myself grace in knowing that it will be okay if I miss a day.
2. Say No And Be Okay With It.
I'm a chronic people-pleaser. I thought loving big meant always saying yes and always sacrificing my needs for others. I thought it mean that my goals, dreams, and passions had to take a backseat to everybody else. I thought that my value, my worth, and my capacity to be loved by others was based in what I can do for them instead of just being present and being me. This year I am saying no to others so I can say yes to myself.
3. Read More Books.
I loved reading in elementary school. You remember that kid who was always one or two reading levels ahead of the class? Well, that was me. I carried that love of reading all the way up until I graduated high school. Once I started college, it just felt like I had no time to read for fun anymore; it was all about reading for my classes and doing homework and trying to get enough sleep, and honestly, it made me a little sad. So, to change that I have decided that I am going to be reading two books a month for the entire year.
4. Lean Into God.
I want to love big and love like Jesus does, but can I really being doing that if I am not making reading my Bible and a devotional a priority? Sometime this month I plan on purchasing the 100 Days To Brave devotional book and reading that daily.
5. Love Myself.
Most of all this year, I want to love myself deeply. I want to love myself the way others love me and see myself the way they see me. I want to love myself regardless of how much weight I have or have not lost and just really really love the person I am so I can become the person I am meant to become.
Goal-setting and challenging yourself is an important thing to be doing daily, which is why I am so excited to run with these goals and see what the new year brings.
