Morsels and Chips

Food is an important part of most people's lives. I mean we need it to eat. Being that I live on campus, most meals I eat at the dining facilities. But let's be completely real, dorm food gets boring very fast. I've come up with a list of great food places in the Muncie area that either I enjoy eating at or have heard nothing but good things about. These are great places to try out when dorm food starts to leave a bland taste in your mouth.

1. Puerto Vallarta

I cannot praise this place enough. I literally cannot get enough of this place. I've yet to have a single bad experience there. The employees are super friendly. Though I'm not a big salsa fan, I have little self-control when they place the chips and salsa in front of me. I highly recommend that you try chicken fajitas. As a bonus, they are pretty reasonably priced. As a college student, that part is super important. It's all around a fantastic place for a team dinner or just a dinner with friends.

2. Amazing Joe's Grill

I've only personally eaten here once. My family took me here for my birthday dinner last March. I have no complaints about my experience. The grilled chicken sandwich was phenomenal. Definitely, a place to suggest when your family takes you when they come to visit you.

3. Scotty's Brewhouse

If you live on campus, this place is perfect. It's located right in the village, so it's in walking distance. Another place with great food. The menu contains a wide variety of food, so even a picky eater like myself can more likely find something they'll eat on the menu.

4. Insomnia Cookies

Okay, so this isn't really a restaurant, but I felt this list would be lacking if Insomnia didn't make the cut. First of all, it is a dessert place with great cookies and amazing ice cream. It's right in the village, so there's easy access. Having a late night study session with friends? Order some Insomnia. They not only deliver to the dorms, but they deliver until 3 am. Please tell me something better than that. Every time I've ordered their cookies, they've been warm and gooey still, which is something I love in a cookie.

5. Concannon's Pastry Shop

Calling all donut lovers! This is the place for you. Not only do they have great donuts, they have fresh breads, pies, candy and so much more. They even have a little cafe inside to get sandwiches and coffee. They have all different types of things to choose from to the point it's overwhelming when you first walk in because you just want to grab everything.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
