6 Lush Products I Swear By

Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics never disappoints. Founded in the U.K., this company stands true to their philosophy of producing cosmetic products made of the "freshest ingredients, not tested on animals and sold fresh to customers". From a small shop in Poole, to over 250 locations across North America, Lush has continued to be a cult-favorite. From holiday themed products, to colorful bath bombs, and products that solve everyday skincare and body needs, Lush goes above and beyond to not only meet consumer needs, but exceed their expectations.

Here are a few Lush products that I can't live without:

1. Grease Lightning

If you have not yet discovered the countless benefits of introducing aloe and tree tea oil into your regular skincare regimen, thank me later. This gel is a holy grail skincare product for me, especially when pesky breakouts arise. I cannot tell you how many times I've used and repurchased this product due to it's magical properties. Grease Lightning is a light-weight gel with ingredients like aloe, tree tea, thyme, rosemary, grape juice, and lavender oil to cleanse and clear out any dirt beneath the surface of your skin. This is great to put on irritated, problem areas, hormonal breakouts, etc. It is great for those who have acne-prone or sensitive skin. This calming and refreshing gel clears pores and gets rid of impurities faster than most.

Retail Price: $15.95 (1.5 oz.)

2. Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask

For years now, I have only purchased face masks from Lush. If you're looking for something natural and packed with nutrients, you've found it. Lush has a wide range of face masks, some fresh and others that don't have to be preserved in a refrigerator. All of which are great! This one in particular is my favorite. Catastrophe Cosmetic, referred to as the "blueberry-packed balancer", is a face mask I have repurchased on many occasions and will continue to for various reasons. It's fresh ingredients include fresh blueberries, calamine powder, almond oil, rose absolute, and chamomile blue oil. This is the perfect mask to balance and calm skin, while also getting a great cleanse. It is great for calming redness and irritation on the skin, plus it smells AMAZING. Obviously selecting a face mask is extremely dependent on your skin type, so choose one that fits your needs. Others I would recommend and have tried on various occasions are Mask of Magnaminty, BB Seaweed, Cosmetic Warrior, and Rosy Cheeks. All Lush face masks have their own unique healing properties so do your research!

Retail Price: $9.95 (2.1 oz.)

3. Roots Hair Treatment

If you have fine, thin, or damaged hair and are looking for a hair mask or leave-in treatment to bring your hair back to life, this is it! This hair treatment contains fresh ingredients like peppermint oil, spearmint oil, honey, grapefruit oil, and extra virgin olive oil. While this leave-in hair treatment has softening and deep conditioning properties, it also has a cooling sensation as well. It leaves hair feeling sleek, shiny, and extra soft.

Retail Price: $22.95 (7.9 oz.), $32.95 (15.5 oz.)

In need of a good exfoliator? This face and body scrub is now offered in a fresh and self-preserving version. Both are equally effective and amazing, even for sensitive skin like my own. Opt for the self-preserving version of Ocean Salt if you're wanting a gentler scrub. This scrub contains ingredients such as sea salt, grapefruit, limes extracted in vodka, lime oil, coconut oil, and avocado butter that not only help to remove dead skin, but brighten, tone, hydrate, and soften skin at the same time.

Fresh, Retail Price: $21.95 (4.2 oz.), $37.95 (8.8 oz.), $49.95 (21.8 oz.)

Self-Preserving, Retail Price: $21.95 (4.2 oz.), $37.95 (8.8 oz.)

5. Charity Pot Body Lotion

BustleCharity Pot

This Lush body lotion is a popular one for a multitude of reasons. Made with ingredients such as Moringa Oil, Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, and Vanilla this lotion can be referred to as the "philanthropic skin softener". It is soothing, hydrating, and 100% of the proceeds go to "small grassroots organizations working in the areas of human rights, animal protection and environmental justice". In my experience, this is a wonderful lotion to purchase during the winter months to quench extra-dry skin, plus it goes to a charitable cause! Can you really go wrong?

Retail Price: $7.95 (1.7 oz.), $27.95 (8.4 oz.)

6. Twilight Bath Bomb

Lush USATwilight

https://th.lush.com/products/twilight

"Recreate the magic of a dreamy, starry night in your tub with our most relaxing bath bomb yet."

This bath bomb smells just as beautiful as it looks in your bathtub. This product is vegan and self-preserving. Containing soothing ingredients of lavender oil, tonka, and ylang ylang oil, this bath is one that will leave you de-stressed and ready for a peaceful slumber. Butterball and Sex Bomb are two bath bombs that are also staples of mine.

Retail Price: $6.95 (6.3 oz.)

Hopefully this article has not only educated, but inspired you to take a trip to Lush and try some products for yourself. Any of these make great additions to your regular skincare routine, or incorporated as an act of self care when you feel like you need a pick-me-up.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
