In the eyes of the individuals who have seen every dramatic, compelling episode of the famous romantic comedy "Sex and the City," Carrie Bradshaw is an intelligent, inspirational hero whose shoe collection deserves several moments of silence. Carrie's vivacious girl squad, wealthy love interest and charming qualities have attracted the attention of many, while her luxurious lifestyle is the envy of thousands of men and woman all over the world. While her love of romance, designer labels and Cosmopolitans may seem quite familiar, her lavish habits and sometimes questionable judgment prove that she's not as relatable as we thought. Carrie Bradshaw has told white lies on many occasions, and we fell victim to every one of them.
1. You can easily attain a massive apartment in New York City on your own.
Being independent is something to strive for, but there's a fine line between what is realistic and what is not. Carrie Bradshaw owns a one bedroom apartment in the West Village of Manhattan, complete with a lush walk-in closet, a kitchen that would make your mother weep and a bedroom bigger than most studios. Realistically, Carrie would not be able to afford to rent such an apartment (let alone own it) with a columnist's salary and no roommates. In Manhattan, people pay $2,000 a month to conveniently have their toilet steps away from their refrigerator -- which means Carrie's spacious apartment is a lie altogether.
2. You can run around the city in Manolos all day, every day.
Carrie's daring outfits are iconic and her extensive collection of stilettos leaves a little resentment in all the hearts of the fashion obsessed. However, she would have had some major blisters if she was running around midtown in five inch heels every day -- even if she did always have a cab on call. In the city, flats, sneakers and mid-heels are your friend.
3. Your Mr. Big will always come back to you.
Whether we'd like to admit it or not, "Sex and the City" made most females in America wish they had someone as gentlemanly, charismatic and filthy rich as Mr. Big. Carrie's ultimate love interest made her the happiest she'd ever been and tore her apart equally as fast. The suspenseful relationship was anything but healthy, filled with scandal, heartbreak and disastrous passion -- but somehow, the two always found their way back to each other. Ideally, everyone would be with the person they love the most, but that isn't always the case. Sometimes, the healthier option is to let it go, leave it be and move on.
4. Money comes and goes, so spend it all on Chanel.
Throughout six long seasons, we see Carrie frivolously spending money on Dior, Jimmy Choo and YSL, all while relying on taxis and takeout to survive her busy schedule. And let's not forget about breakfast with the girls, lunch with the girls, dinner with the girls, drinks with the girls, shopping with the girls, etc. Carrie's spending habits are anything but sensible, and unfortunately, most adults have bills to pay.
5. There's not much more to life than sex, relationships and eventually marriage.
Carrie encourages men and women to experiment in their love lives, and to open their hearts to the many possibilities that may come their way. What she fails to mention is that dating and sex should not be your only concerns, and marriage isn't every woman's only goal. While she stresses about Big's new girlfriend, other women are worried about themselves. Carrie sometimes struggled to see the grey area, but it's always important to find a balance.
