I have caught myself dealing with a couple of lies that I have believed, and I want to share some of them and even ask for prayer as I learn to navigate these lies. I am sure many of you have fed, at least, one of these lies before. I pray that this can be a reminder to some of y’all that you are NOT ALONE.
Lie #1: You are not enough.
This is a complete and utter lie. You are more than enough.
Lie #2: You can’t make a positive impact.
I was a kid from a small Christian school going to a huge public university and not sure what to expect. I did not know many people at NC State, and I was nervous. After about two months, I became discouraged because I thought I could not make a difference… after a quick chat with Jesus, He opened up some doors for me to share my testimony and revealed to me so many ways that I could make an impact. Y’all – it can be hard when you have to go out of your comfort zone to make an impact, but you can. You are making an impact by the nice text you send, by the smile you share with someone and SO many other ways.
Lie #3: You are not the right “size.”
This is a struggle for a lot of people. In fact, I came home from break and someone mentioned that I had lost some weight and for me, it was like my struggle had been worth it. Body image is something I struggle with a TON, and I know that I am not alone. Know that you are altogether beautiful (Song of Solomon 4:7) and that you were made just how God wanted you to be.
Lie #4: You do not have a purpose.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 God makes it SO clear that we have a purpose and that’s to live out His Will for us.
Lie #5: You are alone.
A lot of us feel this way at times. Hey… GUESS WHAT? You are never alone because you always have Jesus with you!
