My boyfriend is a huge fan of the hit HBO series, Game of Thrones. The fantasy genre has never interested me much, but for his sake, I agreed to watch a few episodes. While he was convinced I would get hooked instantly, I was much more skeptical. I tend to stick to light-humored sitcoms like Friends and New Girl or classic dramas like Law and Order: Special Victims Unit . Nevertheless, I sat down with him and turned on HBO. Although he was right, I am a fan of the fantasy series, I needed a few episodes to adjust to the fictional world in which the show takes place. Here are the first five thoughts that ran through my head during my very first Game of Thrones experience.
1. How the heck do people keep track of these weird names?
Every character has an extremely unique name to match a very long title that is impossible to remember. Match the names with an entirely made up land with fictional territories. Very confusing.
2. Is this porn or a television series?
Within the first three episodes, MULTIPLE couples have very raunchy sex. Glad I didn't choose to watch it with my parents.
3. Okay, where can I buy one of these direwolf thingies?
Okay, if the fictional world includes dogs, then maybe I can get into this.
4. Stop with the m'lord and m'ladies!
5. Wait, this is getting good.
Aaaaaand I'm hooked.
