Las Vegas, Nevada is the only home I have ever known, and the city that never sleeps will always have a special place in my heart. Because this is my home, I have never had the luxury of staying in one of the famous hotels and casinos. But after I did some research, I'm glad I haven't. There is more to fabulous Las Vegas than we realize... Here are five chilling infamous hauntings of Las Vegas hotels.

1. Bally's Hotel and Casino

On November 21, 1980 tragedy struck at the original MGM Grand as a deadly fire spread. 650 were injured and, unfortunately, 85 people lost their lives from smoke inhalation. Built on the same site after the fire now stands Bally's. It is believed that the deceased victims of the fire now roam the halls and haunt the employee restrooms.

2. The Luxor

The Luxor is believed to be haunted by five ghosts. Three of which are construction workers who were crushed to death by a wall that collapsed during construction. They supposedly haunt the tunnels of the old river ride that used to circle the bottom floor of the casino. The area that is now the food court is where a prostitute who had been recently diagnosed with AIDS committed suicide by jumping from the 26th floor. Lastly, a man committed suicide on the 10th floor and landed on the express check-out counter. It is said that he walks the halls of the 10th floor.

3. Flamingo Hotel and Casino

Bugsy Siegal opened the Flamingo in the mid 1940's, and it has become one of the most famous casinos in Las Vegas. Unfortunately for Bugsy, the hotel didn't become a success until after his murder. Guests who have stayed in the presidential suite have reported that they received a visit from the deceased mobster. For decades, there have been hundreds of sightings of his ghost, and it has made the Flamingo a highly popular tourist destination for paranormal lovers.

4. Circus Circus

Loud cries can be heard from the casino's poker room as well as rooms 123, 260, 576, and 203. The phrase "Help Me" has been seen written on bathroom mirrors. No one is sure who (or what) is behind these hauntings. One claim, however, is that a woman who was staying in room 123 shot her young child and then took her own life. People say it is the young boy crying at for help before his mother shot him.

5. The Las Vegas Hilton

Elvis has left the building, or has he? This famous singer was a regular at the casino for seven years, and after his passing there were reported sightings of The King at various locations. He has been seen in the showroom, the upper floors of the hotel, and the backstage elevator leading to the green room; his favorite place in the casino.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
