5 Things You Need To Do While You're Home For Break

With Winter Break quickly approaching or just arriving for most students, it is a very exciting time. Exams are over, the holidays are almost here, and there is no homework to be done! With the few weeks that we have, we need to make the best of it. Here are some things you need to do while you are home for break!

1. Eat real food

Let’s face it, the food you are eating at school will just never compare to what you get cooked for you at home by your parents. Skip the popcorn, ramen, and questionable dining hall food and enjoy every meal that gets cooked for you.

2. Sleep

This one may be obvious, but since we all just finished an extremely tiring week of studying and test taking, we all are in desperate need of some sleep in our own beds. Sleep in and take plenty of naps on the couch.

3. Catch up with friends from home

With the busy schedules that come with first semester, it can be super difficult to keep up with friends that are still at home or are at school far away from you. Take this time while you are all in the same place to get together and catch each other up on your lives since you have last seen each other!

4. Enjoy your pets

We all know how much we miss our pet (and other family members) while we are away at school. Seeing a dog on campus causes us to freak out from excitement. While you are home, spend as much time with your beloved animals as possible, because before you know it you will have to rely on the puppy stress relief booths to get your pet fix.

5. Mentally prepare yourself for next semester

As much as you don’t want to think about all the school work that is still to come in the spring, give yourself this break to prepare yourself to conquer your workload (and don’t forget to order your books).

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
