It’s the week before Halloween, so you probably should have put some thought into your costume before now. Of course, life gets in the way. All of a sudden, it’s the night you need a costume and you have nothing.
It’s probably a very scary realization, but it happens to the best of us. The easiest way out of this situation is to put on your favorite team's jersey and go about your day. Better yet, you could do a store-bought costume, but those are expensive. Halloween is the best when you care about the costume you’re wearing and are proud of having made it. If you haven’t started planning or haven’t had time to make something, here are some low-effort costumes that will still "wow" the crowd.
1. M&M's
What you need:
-T-shirt (oversized or not)
-White fabric paint or white felt
Take your t-shirt and lie it on a flat surface. If you go the paint route, I would recommend putting something on the inside of the shirt to prevent the paint from seeping through. Next, you paint on the "M." Personally, I would sketch out the "M" before I went in with the paint, but it totally depends on the person. You may have to go over the paint a couple of times depending on the quality of paint you use. Let your shirt dry, then you’re done. If you go the felt route, simply sketch out the "M" on the felt, cut it out and hot glue it to the shirt. You can also use this exact same process to become a Skittle, just change the "M" to an "S." Easy-peasy lemon squeezy!
2. Nudist on strike
What you need:
-Cardboard or paper
-hole punch
-string
-marker
Take your piece of cardboard/paper and simply write “nudist on strike." Then punch two holes at the top and tie some string to the sign to form a necklace. Now, throw on whatever clothes you want, place the sign around your neck and, just like that, you've finished with your costume.
3. This is my _____ costume
What you need:
-T-shirt (oversized or not)
-marker
How simple is it to write “This is my witch costume” on a shirt and call it a day? You can also replace "witch" with mummy, zombie, bat, scarecrow, old lady or Donald Trump. This is probably the lowest amount of effort out of all the low-effort Halloween costumes.
4. Classic cat/mouse/bunny costume
What you need:
-animal ears
-any clothes you feel like wearing
Most of the time animal ears are paired with an outfit that is monochromatic based on the animal's coloration. For example, for a cat you may dress in all black, for a mouse, maybe all grey. You may get asked what you are if your animal ears aren’t super spot on, but at least people can tell you’re an animal. Maybe add some facial accents using makeup, then voila! You'll be the most beautiful animal in all the land.
5. Onesie
What you need:
-a onesie (shocker)
Slap that baby on and call it a day.
