Finals.
They're the most stressful part of going to college - besides the all-nighters, the study groups, and the reoccurring runs to the local coffee shop for the last bit of caffeine your body can handle.
The stress adds up, and as we scramble to study and finish term projects after coming back from Thanksgiving break, we sometimes forget during these troubled times to take care of ourselves, mentally and physically. Yes, I know that you don't have time to do so, but it is important that we take care of our bodies, don't overwork them too hard.
To help with that, here are some ways to help you combat the stress that finals bring.
1. Take a long hot shower
I know that this might seem like a normal thing to do, but after the grueling hours you just spent in the library reading and studying, this will relax not only your muscles from being hunched over a textbook but your mind as well. Plus, it will help you sleep.
2. Take a 30-minute nap
Get all the sleep that you can get! Sleep is important in both your mental and physical health. A little 30-minute nap in your favorite study space will help you feel better, it is a time to take a break and to let your mind and body rest.
3. Drink water
You'll be distracted from maintaining your normal water intake, so make sure you have your Hydroflask or water bottle on hands at all times! Stress dehydrates you, make sure to replenish your fluids!
4. Exercise
It's as simple as going for a walk or going to the gym. Take a small part out of your day to do this and you will feel better!
5. Treat yo self
The day of your exam, take yourself out to lunch or dinner. You deserve it after putting in so many hours studying.
Finals will be a stressful time for everyone, don't let the stress drown you into not succeeding. You got this! Believe in yourself.
