We've all heard Kate Moss's infamous quote, "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." While the media has been trying to convince us of the same concept for years with tips on how to get the best "bikini bodies" and "summer bods" possible, here is a list of some of the best desserts in Las Vegas that will make you realize that life is short and sometimes it's OK to eat the cake.
Best Cannolis: Ventano Italian Grill And Seafood
191 S Arroyo Grande Blvd. Henderson, NV 89012
My mom is Italian, so we eat a lot of Italian food at home. However, when we do go out, Ventano's, as we call it, is our go-to Italian restaurant. It is reasonably priced and located in the Green Valley area of Henderson. They're open until 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and 11:00 p.m. on weekends. The food is amazing, but dessert is always my favorite (shocking right). The cannoli shells are perfectly crunchy and the filling is sweet, creamy, and addictive. They're kind of like potato chips, you can't just have one. The restaurant also has a great view of The Strip, which makes the atmosphere for cannoli eating that much more memorable.
Best Cupcakes: Sprinkles
3545 S Las Vegas Blvd. Las Vegas, NV 89109
While I realize that Sprinkles is a chain and is not exclusive to Las Vegas, they still have the best cupcakes that I've ever eaten and that's what really matters. The Las Vegas location of Sprinkles is located in The Linq Promenade and is open until 12:00 a.m. Sunday - Wednesday and until 1:00 a.m. Thursday - Saturday for all of you with late night cravings. The strawberry cupcake is my favorite, but if you can't decide what to choose, the cashiers are always very kind and helpful. They also have a cupcake ATM, where you can order a cupcake without even going inside the store. They're slightly pricey for cupcakes, but spending $3.75 on one of these cupcakes will probably be the best investment that you make all day.
Best Crepes: Brew Tea Bar
7380 S Rainbow Blvd. Ste. 101 Las Vegas, NV 89139
Brew Tea Bar has not only mastered boba, now they've done crepes too. I ordered the Berry Lovers Crepe and was not disappointed. It's blueberries and strawberries covered in Nutella and wrapped in a soft crepe. What could be better than that? They're open until 10:00 p.m. and while the prices of the crepes vary, most are $4.95. Share one with a friend or have one all to yourself. Either way, there's fruit in it, so if you're feeling bad about having a treat, you can easily convince yourself that it has nutritional value. In my mind, happiness should definitely be on the food pyramid.
Best Cookie Sandwiches: Sweet Addiction, Cookies and Ice Cream
2291 N. Green Valley Pkwy Henderson, NV 89014
5165 S. Fort Apache Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89148
If you can't decide between an ice cream or a cookie, you don't have to at Sweet Addiction. They have 24 different flavors of ice cream to choose from and 13 different flavors of cookies to make your own unique ice cream sandwich with. The cookies are warm and contrast with the cold ice cream, which makes everything feel right in the world. Each custom ice cream sandwich is $3.69 and they also sell just ice cream or just cookies if you don't feel like mixing. With two locations that are both open until 10:00 p.m. Sunday - Thursday and until 11:00 p.m. Friday - Saturday, it is the perfect place to go for a sweet treat on your way home from a late-night study session.
Best Cookies: Freed's Bakery
9815 S. Eastern Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89183
Every family birthday party, holiday dinner, and celebration has been met with a box of Freed's cookies ever since I was little. Even after the event was over and the box was picked over by relatives, there wasn't a point when there weren't any "good" cookies left until the box was completely empty. From their black and white cookies, raspberry drop butter cookies, raspberry walnut rugelach, macaroons, and sprinkle butter cookies to countless more options, they're all delicious. Maybe nostalgia plays a role in my love of these cookies, but if they weren't good, then Freed's wouldn't have been named Las Vegas's Best Bakery for over 30 years.
Now, I don't know about you, but I'm starving.
