Going on a cleanse is something that has seemed to be very common in our society lately, & I'm not talking about a juice cleanse. Instead, let's focus on the cleanses that are good for the mind & soul.
1. Live in your surroundings and clear out your screen time.
In our modern world, society is extremely influenced by all of our environmental triggers. From billboards, stories the media, all of the various social media apps, or texting, our minds are rarely focused on our current surroundings. It is so important to be aware of where we are in each moment, because they only happen once. As you go throughout your day, try to pause for small moments & reflect on how your day is going, or how certain things made you feel. Put your phone screen down, & become aware of the environment that you are in.
2. Let go of unhealthy obsessions, and clear out your busy schedule.
We all know the phrase, "I'm so stressed," and maybe you even say it to yourself every now and then. Today our society is always so fast paced, and our schedules are jam packed. We tend to always list our tasks out, and at some point completing them can become an unhealthy obsession. This can also lead us to feel like we are out of control, and helpless. Try to delegate your energy to the tasks most important to you, and simply drop the rest.
3. Express your feelings and clear out your negative thoughts.
I used to keep my difficult feelings bottled up inside of me for long periods of time. However, once i started accepting these feelings and expressing them to the people close to me, my mind began to feel free and my thought process became more positive. If something is truly bothering you, you need to be honest with yourself, and let the emotions out.
4. Count your blessings and remember how loved you are.
Literally, count them. Take a quiet moment to flip through the pages of an old journal until you find an empty page and take the time to write out a few things that you feel are a blessing. You can also just simply flip through your camera roll in your phone and look at all of the friendships and memories that you hold close to your heart. Counting your blessings daily, or at least a couple times a week will help you form a constant stream of gratitude, and help you always remember that we have something to be thankful for.
5. Clear out clutter and get rid of items you don't need anymore.
Remove any clutter, items in your room, or pieces of clothing from your closet that you no longer put to use anymore. Get rid of the things that make you say, "Oh! I completely forgot about this!" Try your hardest not to keep something that you haven't missed or shouldn't be missing. A physical cleanse gives the brain a sense of control and simply enforces the fact that you determine where your energy goes.
