With spring break on its way, you will probably have a lot of free time on your hands. With a lot of extra time to do nothing, you'll probably want to watch some movies. You probably won't be able to figure out which movies to watch, so here are five of my favorite classic movies that will be good both the first time you watch it and the millionth time!
1. "The Breakfast Club"
Let's start this list off with my favorite movie OF ALL TIME... "The Breakfast Club"! Written by John Hughes, this movie is about a group of very different kids, stuck in a day-long Saturday detention together.
They start the movie thinking they all have nothing in common, but by the end of the movie, they each have a chance to tell their story and have everyone else see them differently. They all finally realize they're all more alike than they thought.
2. "Pretty In Pink"
Another one of my favorite movies, also written by John Hughes, "Pretty In Pink" is about a Chicago high school outcast, Andie, who hangs out either with her older boss, who owns the record store where she works, or her quirky classmate Duckie, who has a crush on her.
When one of the rich and popular kids at school, Blane, asks Andie out, it seems too good to be true. As Andie starts falling for Blane, she begins to realize that dating someone from a different social sphere is not easy.
3. "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"
Bueller?... Bueller? It's another one of my favorite movies, written by... can you guess who?
That's right! John Hughes!
Ferris Bueller is a master at skipping classes and getting away with it. As a last skip day before graduation, Ferris calls out sick, "borrows" a Ferrari, and embarks on a one-day journey throughout the streets of Chicago.
4. "Breakfast At Tiffany's"
Starring Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly, this movie is about a socialite who lives in New York City and falls in love with a man who moves into her building. But he is with an older woman who is very wealthy.
She has no job but makes a living by socializing with older, rich men that take her out to restaurants and clubs and give her money and expensive presents. She hopes to marry one of them.
5. "Dazed And Confused"
This movie is a coming-of-age movie about a group of rowdy teens celebrating the last day of high school in 1976. The graduating class heads to a keg party.
Meanwhile, the incoming freshman focus on trying to avoid being hazed by the seniors.
