5 Classes Everyone Has On Syllabus Week

You might be out in ten minutes or stuck ten minutes late.

With the start of fall semester comes syllabus week, something that all professors seem to interpret in their own way. Unless you received the syllabus or an assignment ahead of time, you never truly know what to expect. Here are a few types of classes that you are likely to attend during the first week of school at college:

1. A class that ends in 10 minutes

It's not that the professors don't like their job or anything like that. They just don't see the point in dragging out the first day, and I appreciate that.

2. One filled with ice-breakers and introductions

Yes, college is a great time to make connections, but sharing fun facts about yourself gets old pretty quick.

3. A busy class that takes the entire time

You are dismissed not one minute early and not one minute late. Watch out for this professor; he or she is likely always right on top of things.

4. Maybe one that gets cancelled

This one is rare, but it does happen for some lucky students. Labs are often canceled on the first day since there hasn't been a lecture yet.

5. A class that ends late

I'm willing to bet that this class is going to be a tough one. If it ends late during syllabus week, I can only imagine how the rest of the semester will be.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
