Love is always in the air, even if Valentine's Day is over.
Seeing couples in every way life can be as annoying as an iced tea spilling secretly in your backpack, but when watching TV shows, sometimes it's the suspense of a certain couple's relationship that has us going back for more.
Every TV show seems to have a layer of romance, and almost every other TV show has couples breaking up and getting back together— or just moving onto the next big thing.
Regardless, couples are iconic and can make or a break a storyline. The following is a list of eight couples that just take the cake when it comes to their onscreen relationship:
1. Jim and Pam
We don't love Jim and Pam because their drama keeps us on our toes. We don't love Jim and Pam because we keep waiting for one to get back with the other for the thirteenth time. We love Jim and Pam because they're good. Because their love is happy and because they love each other purely. The office pranks, the office flirtations and the storyline of a salesman falling in love with a receptionist is just "aw factor" all the way.
2. Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd
We watched these two fall in love for 11 seasons. The love was so poetic that there had to be a tragic ending; all true loves in literature seem to end that way, perhaps the producers of "Grey's Anatomy" felt their show should follow the trend. Pick me. Choose me. Love me. The elevator proposal and the dream-house mixed with the fights and the challenges? Throw out your harp; this couple pulls at your heart-strings instead.
3. Monica and Chandler
Before you say anything about how this should be Ross and Rachel, just hold on. Hear me out. Ross and Rachel could have been meant to be this whole time, but the two were honestly so frustrating in their quest to figure that out. Both were too immature, it seemed. But Chandler, as much of a commitment-phobe as he was, loved Monica and it was this love that brought him out of his shell. Monica, who is flawed with her own competitive and controlling personality, was mellowed out by Chandler's inexperience and witty, easygoing nature. The two just fit together and that one line where Chandler tells Monica he likes being the one to calm her down just gets me every time.
4. Luke and Lorelai
Luke is that rock you walk by your house and never think matters until you need..well, a rock. From season to season, we see how much he loves Lorelai and how much he is right there for her. How she is all "he's ever going to need," as he said in the reunion special. But Lorelai never even considers him until that one beautiful episode where Luke finally lays it all out on the table, the night of her inn opening. He's that brooding, serious man with a soft spot for Lorelai, a woman with quick wit, sharp intelligence and a young free spirit to give him a run for his money. Adorable!
5. Carrie and Big
Listen...these two getting together is like that one friend we all have who is stuck on this same guy for years and years and it's almost always "so close but not close enough." No matter what— no matter what goes on in their lives — the two are drawn back to each other. Carrie and Big have gone through the world and back with each other, including Big being married to someone else for a time... how did they ever find each other? The fact they did, earns them a Best Couple title.
