Midterm season is looming, and to help counteract the stress, here are 5 apps that every student needs this go-around.

1. Sleep Cycle

I am very bad at dragging myself up out of bed in the morning. In fact, I disabled the snooze button entirely because I know I'll just keep hitting it. However, since I installed Sleep Cycle, I've noticed that I don't feel as tired in the morning. Basically, Sleep Cycle tracks your breathing and wakes you up when you're in a lighter phase of sleep. It doesn't just jolt you awake, either. Its alarms sound over a period of 30 minutes, so you don't feel as groggy when you wake up. This'll be an asset during midterm season, especially when you're staying up cramming.

2. Photomath

Photomath is an essential resource for anyone who needs a bit of help in math. It allows you to take pictures of what you have questions on and gives you step-by-step instruction. As a writing-dominant person, I need as much help as I can possibly get, so this app is definitely a breath of fresh air!

3. Desmos

This app is essentially a graphing calculator without the excess complication. It's just an easier way to generate graphs that would otherwise be tedious to try and do on, say, a TI-84. Even if you don't need graphs that often, it's definitely better to get this app than spend a fortune on a graphing calculator.

4. Campus Portal

For someone who checks their grades obsessively, having the Campus Portal app really cuts back the time that I usually take to log in and slowly scroll over to my grade. If your school system using Parent Portal/ Campus Portal to shell out grades, I highly recommend getting the app so you can keep up-to-date.

5. Quizlet

This one is kind of a no-brainer, but I'm serious, Quizlet works miracles, especially during midterm season. It makes studying so much easier because you don't have to be concerned with carrying an enormous stack of flash-cards with you wherever you go. I cannot survive without this app during the winter months; my brain might implode.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
