Let's face it: it's virtually impossible to sit down and read without getting interrupted by your phone ringing. However, instead of fighting the combination of technology and books, let's use our phones to aid us in our reading endeavors. Here are 5 apps that have helped me get out of my reading slump.
1. Bookout
Bookout is essentially a reading tracker. It helps you visualize how much you've read, so it really helps kickstart your reading. Personally, every time I open the app, I think, "Oh Gosh, I want to add more time! Better get reading!"
2. Goodreads
The quintessential app for every nerd. It allows you to write and read book reviews, and it suggests book recommendations for your next read.
3. Wattpad
The perfect way to read original stories by everyday people like you and me. I've found some real gems on Wattpad, and I highly recommend this to anyone who isn't carrying a book all the time.
4. eBook Search
This app allows you to find free, public domain books (typically classics) that you can download on your phone. It's fast, easy, and so helpful. 'Nuf said.
5. Kindle for iPhone
As a Kindle owner with a very small purse, I can't always afford to take my Kindle with me, which is why the Kindle app comes in handy. You can read everything you have on your Kindle on your phone, so it's good for when you're bored and just want to have a quick read without too much hassle.
