5 Things You Shouldn't Be Afraid To Say

Adulting is hard and life gets rough sometimes. We all struggle with different things and hit rock bottom at different times. Many of us have a hard time expressing how we feel, I know I do. There are certain things we all need to say and we also need to hear. Humans are wonderful creatures and the connections we are able to make are amazing. Here’s a few things that you should never be afraid to tell others - as told by kittens, because they’re cute:

1. I Miss You

Even though we live in a world where it’s easy to be connected through social media and cell phones, it’s still important to let people know that you miss them. It’s not hard to lose a connection with someone if you aren’t reminding them that you still need them in your life. Humans aren’t mind readers, you have to let them know how you’re feeling.

2. I Need Help

It can be really hard to ask for help. No one should have to go through life alone, especially when you’re struggling with something. It’s hard to admit when you can’t do things, especially when you’re trying to put on an independent front. Reality is good at slapping you in the face and making you come to terms with the fact that there are things you can’t do alone. There’s nothing wrong with needing a support system. When you’re stressed out, when you’re sad, when you’re angry, find people to turn to - whether it’s for advice or support.

3. I'm Sorry

You really have to eat your pride with this. Saying sorry and letting go of grudges can be painful. You just have to man up and say it. This goes hand-in-hand with forgiving people, too. Even if someone hasn’t said sorry, you need to learn to forgive people and move on. There’s no point in lingering in the past. What’s the point in going through life unhappy?

4. I Was Wrong

I don’t know anyone who likes to be wrong. Admitting that you messed up is such a big part of growing up. Even as adults, we need to accept when we make mistakes and move on. We’re all human, it happens.

5. I Love You

Last, but definitely not least, we need to tell others we love them. We all overlook the importance of saying this to our loved ones. It’s easy to just assume that the closest people in our lives know we love them. You never know when something bad is going to happen. No one can tell you when someones time on Earth is going to end, so you need to take time to appreciate them while you can. Let people know how you feel about them on the daily. Let them know they’re appreciated and wanted. It's important to remember that our mental health is just as important as our physical health, and letting our emotions show is a great exercise for that.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
