5 Things I Wish To Accomplish In My Twenties

Turning 20 is like the turn of a new era. You have officially left your teenage years and are starting the adventure into pure adulthood. I like to think of my 20s as a new adventure. It's a time to start discovering myself and figuring out my likes and dislikes; what my passions are and maybe what I am not so passionate about. Being in my 20s means I am truly learning how to be an adult. It's time to start taking care of myself. I am learning how to cook, clean, and live on my own. I like to think of my 20s as a significant learning experience. The 5 things I wish to accomplish in my twenties are as followed:

1. Travel

I find this the time and opportunity to travel to all those places I want to visit. I find this as a time to see the world and explore different parts of it. It is a good way to learn more about the different cultures, religions, and traditions that exist within our world. Being a curious person that I am, I have a long list of places I wish to travel to and that is what I hope to fulfill in my 20s.

2. Being Financially Independent

This is one goal that may not happen in my early 20s but I am hoping will happen sooner than later. Financial independence is just a start into adulthood. I view it as a way of taking responsibility and independence into my own hands instead of living off my parents because I would not want to live off their own money forever. It is just a step into growing up and a high goal that I have set for myself since I turned 20.

3. Career Path

Probably the most important goal I have to accomplish would be this one. I hope that in my 20s I develop a career path that I am satisfied and content with. I am hoping I will really find myself and choose the right path in which I want my life to go in. I guess that is what college is for, too-- to take the opportunity to explore different sorts of classes and majors to really get a feel for what to do when I grow up and I plan on taking full advantage of this.

4. Risk Taking

Personally, I hope in my 20s to have an open mind and start taking more risks. By risk taking, I hope to discover more of myself and explore different passions that I may have been too afraid of in the past. I would say that for all my goals, there is a risk-taking factor embedded in them.

5. Networking

This accomplishment sort of goes with career path but networking is a way to meet people in the field you would like to make a career out of and could even help you get to the place you want to be. You never know who you meet and what they could help you with.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
