Every year on the fourth full weekend of September, the James Dean Festival takes place in Grant County. Thousands of cars come to Fairmount, Indiana for this annual event that is sponsored by the Fairmount Historical Museum.
Every year there is a viewing of all three of James Dean's films, a 50s dance and costume contest and a James Dean look-alike contest, along with vendors and live music.
Up to 20,000 people come to the James Dean Festival for the car show, parade, vendors and other events.
The 42nd annual festival will take place September 21 through September 24, 2017.
The James Dean Gallery displays portraits, hometown artifacts, magazines and collectibles. The gallery also includes a Rebel Rebel gift shop with Dean gifts and 50s items including custom flannel and denim shirts designed by Lenny.
Lenny has an etsy shop called Lenny Shirts where he sells his '50s-style rockabilly shirts.
This year Dekota Clemmons (D3X) will be performing on the lawn at the James Dean Gallery.
His performance will be a little different than the other local musicians. He is a rap artist who will be performing his own music with a 50s tribute. He will be releasing his new album, D3XIDOUS INDEFINITE, on Halloween.
Come see him on Saturday the 23 and enjoy the 42nd annual James Dean Festival.
