Joining a social club is seriously one of the best decisions I have made during my time in college. However, even with the 100+ brothers and sisters you make once you're in the pledging process, the worst part of it all is RUSHING. Feeling like you need to impress, show-off, stand out or be funny is just too much to take in.

As someone who has experienced every feeling possible during the rushing season, here are the 40 feelings every rushee feels.

1. I don't want to rush

2. Wait! Free food?

3. But, I won't know anyone.

4. But, meeting new people won't be so bad.

5. Okay. Okay. I'm going.

6. Do I really wanna buy friends?

7. Naw, forget it.

8. Man up! You're going!

9. I changed my mind. TOO MANY PEOPLE!

10. Oh wait! I know her!

11. Umm.. uhhh.. my...name..is...

12. And now we wait..

13. Oh crap, here comes someone!

14. Ohh,, Hii!

15. Did you really just say that?!

16. Just stay calm!

17. Did she even ask for my name?

18. That's it! This isn't for me.

19. Oh great, here comes someone else.

20. Hey, she was nice!

21. Omg! She told me to follow her!

22. Are we like best friends now?

23. Should I smile more?

24. I made her laugh!!!! Glory to God!!!

25. Oh, I have this in the bag!

26. Sorry Ladies, this is my club!

27. What! She just passed me on. WTF!

28. She hates me now.

29. I hate this club.

30. I want out.

31. Here comes someone.

32. Okay. She seems normal.

33. Finally, someone asked for my name.

34. Dude, she's awesome!

35. This club rocks!

36. OOOHHKKAAYY, Now I got this!

37. She told me to come next time.

38. She likes me!!! OMG!

39. I need to call my mom, now!

40. Rushing sucks.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
