For the last three days, I have been obsessively refreshing the grades page while simultaneously wondering what my professors could possibly be doing with their time other than inputting my grades. So to distract myself and to help my other anxiety driven friends out there here are some things to do this winter break instead!

1. Ice skating

This is the perfect way to spend your winter break. It's a great way to spend time with friends and more importantly Snapchat your friends falling to show that you do have friends.

2. Netflix & chill

This list would be incomplete if I did not include Netflix & chill. I mean this is cuffing season, come on! But if you're not about that life, just Netflix. Actually, let's forget Netflix and chill and just binge TV shows on Netflix. She's Gotta Have It is pretty good if you want recommendations.

3. Watch romcoms

Hallmark movies are a staple for the holiday season and it's not Christmas without the cliche airport kiss scene.

4. Have a spa day

I swear nothing is better than relaxing in a robe with a hair mask. Yeah, sex is cool but have you tried a charcoal mud mask. And after a stressful quarter its good to take time and take care of yourself.

5. Bake cookies

My mom used to help my sister and I bake warm chocolate chip cookies and make hot chocolate every Christmas Eve. So now every time I eat chocolate chip cookies or sip on Starbucks I'm reminded of tinsel and decorating the tree. Plus cookies would go great with Netflix and chill and romcoms!

Do one or do all. Just know that one bad grade is not the end of the world. Remember to take time this break to take care of yourself and spend it with the ones that matter the most.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
